BLEPHAROPLASTY

Eyelid surgery can have a remarkable effect on reducing aging effects of the face. It is a safe and simple procedure that produces reliable results. It is equally beneficial for both men and women.

The surgery is usually performed under local anesthesia alone or in conjunction with some sedation. Incisions are well hidden in the natural contours of the eye and once healed are virtually invisible. The surgery involves removing excess skin and in some cases fat.

Pain is minimal; many patients take no pain killers, but if necessary Acetaminophen is sufficient and helpful. Bruising and swelling are minimal and use of ice is very helpful. Sutures are removed within one week. Contacts can be worn shortly after surgery and makeup within one week. Activity should be kept to a minimum for 10-14 days to avoid excessive bleeding. Social and sports activities will likely be altered for a few weeks.

The surgery has the effect of making you look less tired, more youthful, and more refreshed.

In severe cases, the excess eyelid skin interferes with vision sufficiently to be covered by MSP.
